Three people dead, one survivor found in 'horrific' scene at Gentilly home, NOPD chief says

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) - New Orleans police Chief Michael Harrison called the deaths of three people found in a Gentilly home a "horrific scene" during a news conference Friday morning.

The homicides were reported around 5 a.m. at a home in the 4200 block of Touro Street. Officials said in the first update that at least three people were shot, but Harrison said detectives are now working to determine how the victims died.

Harrison said police found three people dead in the home and one survivor. Officials have not identified the victims because relatives have not been notified.

"This is horrible," Harrison said while giving an update outside the home. "It really rattles everybody."

Few details have been released about the investigation. Harrison said detectives do not have a motive for the shooting and have not identified whoever is responsible.

Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans said Friday it has increased the reward for information in the shooting to $5,000. Officials said rewards are increased when investigations involve multiple victims by the same perpetrator.

Rewards are given to people who provide information that leads to an arrest. More information on Crimestoppers can be found on its website.

Detectives said anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111. Harrison said any details will help police in the case.
