Senator Mary Landrieu Visits Ruston on Friday

RUSTON, LA -- U.S. senator Mary Landrieu paid a visit to Ruston on Friday, dedicating a new addition to public safety.

Landrieu, along with Representative Vance McAllister and other officials, cut the ribbon on the new Lincoln Parish Public Safety Complex.

The 24,000 square foot facility will serve 29 parishes in the region.

It will be home of the Lincoln Parish Homeland Security Director, the parish fire chief and the sheriff's criminal and juvenile services divisions.

In 2009, Landrieu secured a nearly $1 million earmark to pay for about half of the complex's construction costs.

Because of this, officials say the parish will not have to raise taxes to cover those costs.
