Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia is bestowing a unique honor with a new scholarship named in honor of a SAU rodeo team horse that was stolen and then killed last year.
University officials say roughly 15 thousand dollars in donations have come in from people wanting to show their support for "Credit Card", one of the horses that was killed.
The money is being used to start a yearly scholarship for a rodeo member.
Officials say that they are glad to see that something positive is coming out of a tragic situation.
"It was a bad situation, but you know there is always some good you can make out of a difficult situation and the rodeo kids felt the concern and the support from the people across the United States who donated."
The scholarship will go into effect in the fall of 2013.
