MONROE (KTVE/KARD)– Monroe Council Woman Betty Blakes teamed up with the Anioch Baptist Church to help area kids, Saturday.

Families arrived all morning to get basic back to school supplies such as notebooks, pens and glue.

Parents say they appreciate the school drive, during times of need.

Blakes said it’s important to make sure kids have the items they need for school.

“It’s so important because every child needs to have what it on the list and some parents can not afford it,” said Blakes.  “There can be more than two or three children in a house, so we are trying to make it as easy as possible."

She adds that folks can come by the Monroe City Council Chambers to both drop off and pick up school supplies.
