MONTICELLO, AR (Monticello Live) - A driver escaped serious injury today when his log truck was hit by a train.

It happened at a railroad crossing in Monticello on Highway 425 near Highway 278.

Officials say five lanes of traffic on both sides of the tracks were shutdown for more than an hour after the accident.

MonticelloLive (see attached photo-more photos at the link) reports the front of the train collided with the driver side of the log truck, behind the cab. The driver was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, but was walking around the accident scene before being transported.

The log truck is owned by J & J Trucking. Monticello Police suspect inattentive driving is to blame for the accident.

A minor injury to a worker on the train was also reported.

MonticelloLive also says that the flashing light crossbar, which was reportedly flashing when the accident occurred, was struck by the log trailer and knocked to the ground next to the wrecked vehicle.

Most city streets and roads were clogged with heavy traffic trying to get around the accident scene.
