Young boy is on a mission to honor police officers

10-year-old wants to give a donut to every officer in America

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.- - (11/3/2107) What did your son or daughter do for their 10th birthday? Well, Tyler Carach spent it at the Mall of America. He wasn't shopping, but spending time with police officers from across Minnesota. 

Tyler has the nickname "Donut Boy". That is because he wants to honor police officers across the nation by giving donuts to as many cops as he can. He even has a Facebook page called "I DONUT need a reason to thank a cop.

On Friday, Tyler had his "Birthday with the Blue" at the nation's largest mall. Tyler has traveled across the nation handing out donuts to law enforcement. Throughout his travels, he has handed out more than 40,000 donuts to officers from Florida to Ohio.

His whole quest to met officers and treat them to donuts started over a year ago. "On August 1st, 2016 me and my mom went to a local store and I bought mini donuts with my own money." says Tyler. "I gave them to cops and when we left I said I want to thank every cop in America... I want to let them know that people still care."

In addition to coffee and donuts, each officer who went to the birthday party received a thank you card as well. 

Tyler says when he grows up, he wants to be a K9 officer. Several departments brought there canines for Tyler to meet at the party on Friday.
