Welcome to Home Health House Calls.
Coumadin or Warfarin is a medication commonly known to the public as a blood thinner. Coumadin therapy is used to prevent blood clots in patients who have Atrial Fibrillation or a history of blood clots.
Being placed on long term Coumadin therapy will require some adjustments in your everyday life.
Home health can help make it a smooth transition.
Blood tests and dosage adjustments are common when therapy is first started.
It is very important to have your levels in a therapeutic range.
The nurse can draw your blood and take it to the lab for processing allowing your doctor to make adjustments without you ever having to leave home.
The nurse will provide education on required diet changes to help keep your levels constant as well as possible side effects associated with this medication.
If you are on Coumadin therapy- long term or new- discuss home health with your doctor and how they can help.
