Young man runs into traffic to save a child in West Monroe

WEST MONROE, La -- - It was just another Friday for 20-year-old Connor Hudnall.  Running errands for his business and sitting in rush hour traffic between Cypress Street and Well Road.

Then he noticed something out of the ordinary. A young child walking out of Walgreens--alone.

"I was taking a left getting on to well road and..saw this like four or five-year- old kid walk out walgreens and he was just walking by himself so it kind of concerned me a little bit."

In that moment he wouldn't have much time.

He had to make a decision.

Hudnall notices that the kid is easing towards the street. Right  then he takes off his seatbelt and cracks the door and then...He runs, grabs the child and brings him back to safety.

"I grabbed him up about halfway into the intersection and as soon as i grabbed him up that's when everybody kind of stopped their cars and knew what was going on," Hudnall said.

Still full of adrenaline,he hopped back in his truck, but quickly pulled over to catch his breath.

"It kind of hit me like five minutes after like what was going on and you know the adrenaline was pumping and everything but other than that i mean you know at least the kid's safe i don't even know his name."

In the right place at the right time--- helping a youngster-- who didn't even know he was in danger.

"it's a good situation," Hudnall said.

"He could be at the park right now playing you know and it's a lot better than being at a hospital."
