Wreck leads to drug charges in Union Parish
UNION Parish - A single vehicle wreck in Union Parish ended with the arrest of a Marion man on narcotic charges and an old warrant accusing him of auto theft.
Tyler E. Shelbon, 63, of 741 Litroe Loop, was arrested in the early morning hours of Friday (April 13) after the pickup he was driving ran off La. Hwy. 33 striking several small trees before hitting a larger tree.
Shelbon was non-responsive when deputies arrived on the scene and was taken by ambulance to Union General Hospital in Farmerville. He was treated and later released at which time he was arrested.
While performing an inventory on the contents of the Toyota Tundra before it was released for towing, deputies found a black cylinder container with a flip-top lid in a cup holder. Found inside the container was suspected marijuana and crack cocaine. He also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, plus a traffic charge of careless operation.
His bond on the meth charge was set at $1,500.
A check of any outstanding warrants on Shelbon revealed that a warrant was issued for his arrest in February 2013 for theft of a motor vehicle. His bond on that charge was set at $10,000.
