UNION Parish - An El Dorado, Ark., resident has been booked into the Union Parish Detention Center on drug-related charges after a deputy spotted her vehicle parked in the middle of a road at night.
Carole D. Cottrell, 50, was booked late Sunday night into the detention center at Farmerville on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of Hydrocodone, both felonies. Her bond on these two charges was set at $6,000.
She also was booked on two misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana (less than 14 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cottrell was to be released on her own recognizance on these charges.
Sheriff Dusty Gates said Cottrell’s car was parked in the middle of Oakland Bridge Road near La. Hwy. 558 with headlights off but with parking lights illuminated. Cottrell granted the deputy’s request to search her car where he found the drugs and paraphernalia, the sheriff said.
