Up in Flames: West Monroe home explodes

WEST MONROE, La - In West Monroe a  fire has investigators searching for clues, after working a to put out the flames before the home collapsed to the ground.

Around 12:00 a.m. Friday, authorities rushed to a fire at this home in the 1400 block of ridge avenue. When authorities got here, they found this burning house.

Scattered deep in the ashes are faint signs that the  family in Ouachita Parish once lived inside.

From seared pictures on the wall, to the family heirlooms on the ground.

It was a place Jimmy Thornhill once called home,

It is a tragedy that leaves so many questions,

And now many prayers go out  for a man who used to live on ridge avenue for nearly two decades.

"It was a loud explosion. It shook everything around that someone from Burger King felt the reverberation from it.. It was just  that substantial so I guess it was my lucky day," said Thornhill.

At last check, fire investigators with the West Monroe Fire Department say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
