OUACHITA Parish - A man from Mexico has been arrested in Ouachita Parish after a traffic stop yielded 26 pounds of methamphetamine.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
State Police noticed a white GMC cross over the white fog line twice on Interstate 20.
A traffic stop was conducted where the driver was identified as Jorge A. Morales-Villanueva of Juarez, Mexico.
Morales-Villanueva appeared nervous and offered vague travel plans when speaking with the trooper.
The trooper requested and was granted the ability to search the vehicle.
A manual search revealed approximately 26 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in an aftermarket compartment under the front passenger seat.
The contraband was seized and Morales-Villanueva was transported to Troop F for an interview.
During his interview, information was obtained that Morales-Villanueva was traveling with another vehicle from Juarez.
The other vehicle was detained at the Sierra Bianca checkpoint with approximately 26 pounds of methamphetamine.
Morales-Villanueva was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on a $1,251,500.00 bond.
