STERLINGTON, La. - On the heels of Sterlington’s first state championship in football, head coach Jason Thompson is moving into administration.
“It’s an opportunity that actually came my way a couple of years ago, but I wasn’t ready to make that jump”, Thompson told KTVE 10 Sports. “And the timing isn’t great now, but in the long run it’s a move I couldn’t pass up.”
Thompson took over the Panther program five years ago, and is 42-14 in his tenure as head coach. Sterlington has become a power in Class 2-A football, and pulled one of the largest upsets in prep Superdome history when they defeated Madison Prep, 28-27 this past December.
The search for his replacement begins immediately.
