MONROE, La. - A Richwood inmate has been arrested after stabbing two victims over stolen property.
Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Brandon Benson, 31 of Bossier, Louisiana, on one count attempted second degree murder and one count aggravated battery.
The incident occurred on July 4, 2017 at 11:25 a.m.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the Richwood Correctional Center in reference to a stabbing.
Deputies discovered two victims had sustained stab wounds.
One victim suffered 34 wounds to the chest back and neck area while the other sustained one wound to the back.
Benson was taken into custody and the victims were transported to EA Conway Hospital.
Both victims provided statements and advised the attack was unwarranted and no altercation had taken place prior to the incident.
Both victims are still hospitalized and receiving treatment for their injuries.
Benson said the two victims had taken some property from him and he felt his actions were in self-defense.
Due to the nature of the injuries and the video of the incident, Benson was taken to Ouachita Correctional Center.
His bond has not yet been set.
