Rayville man leads Monroe PD on chase

MONROE, La. - A Rayville man faces a host of charges after a would-be traffic stop in Monroe turned into a police chase and a crash.
Police say 40-year-old Morris Bass tried to dodge an officer on college avenue last night by cutting through the raceway gas station 
parking lot and then speeding on Desiard Street.
The suspect reportedly was driving 80 in a 35mph zone. 
It ended when he tried to cut through a field to get onto Kansas Street and crashed in a ditch.
Bass is charged with drug possession, felony aggravated flight and a number of traffic violations.
He's in the Ouachita Parish Jail on $550 bail for traffic offenses.
No bond has been set for the felony.
