Police: Children tested positive for cocaine, woman arrested

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL) - A guardian is behind bars after the four children entrusted to her tested positive to high levels of cocaine.

Shreveport police took Clydetra Thomas, 25, into custody Tuesday, after four warrants for cruelty to a juvenile were issued.

Thomas, of the 6800 block of Antioch, was first arrested in July on allegations of child desertion, after police reports of two small children wandering the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and West Canal Boulevard.

After Thomas’s initial arrest the Department of Children and Family Services removed four children from the home.

On September 17, 2017, DCFS contacted Shreveport Police Youth Service Investigators and advised them that all four children tested positive for very high levels of cocaine.

Thomas was booked into the Shreveport City Jail at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on the warrants, which were no bond warrants.
