OUACHITA PARISH - Parents, listen up! If your kids have dreams of being of being a cop, you might be in luck this summer.
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is looking to give kids the chance to fulfill that dream with their summer Cadet Academy.
The one-week summer program is geared towards youth who are interested in law enforcement careers. Throughout the camp students will learn about firearm laws, how to work crime scenes and learn from experienced officers.
But, it's not all just fun and games.
Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Glenn Springfield said it is a great opportunity for students to meet officers.
"Not only will they see what they do, but they will also get to interact with the deputies become familiar with them and realize that they live in their community. That they are apart of their community and that helps with an interaction they grow older and work and become involved with police that we are their friend," said Springfield.
The camp is ONLY open to students ages 10 to 18 in Ouachita Parish. For the list of requirements and fees select camp below:
