West Monroe, LA (6/11/18) - Trial is set to begin today for the man accused of trying to burn down his former employer's house in West Monroe, while two people were inside sleeping.

Matthew Alexander will appear in the Ouachita Parish Courthouse Tuesday.

He's charged with two counts of attempted second degree murder, and one count of felony arson after setting a West Monroe house on fire back in 2014.

The victims, who were able to escape safely, told police Alexander was a disgruntled ex-employee who harassed them for years before the incident.

MPD is investigating after a woman led them on a high speed chase after stealing a police cruiser.

Monroe police say a female suspect stole the cruiser in Monroe and led them on a high speed chase down I-20 before crashing in Lincoln Parish, just before the rest stop heading into Ruston.
