Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office to auction dozens of cars

MOREHOUSE PARISH -   If you are in the market for a car you may get a good deal at the local sheriff's auction.
The Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office is now auctioning seized vehicles at an online site.

Sheriff Mike Tubbs says the property is sold to the highest bidder.

"It is just a very simple bid process and they can do it from home, anywhere in the United States.  We used to pile them all up and have a Saturday that we would present them during a live auction.  This has simplified it and it's getting us better value for our vehicles."

Sheriff Tubbs says the money from the auction translates to taxpayers saving dollars and the sheriff says it is a public service all the way around.

"The surplus police vehicles, that money gets dumped back into our general fund. As we get updated patrol cars, it comes back in the general fund  It is a win for me and certainly a win for the public.
