For more than 100 years, the Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo has been a source of entertainment for the Ark-La-Miss.
Providing tons of fresh air and greenery while serving as a place to make childhood memories.
"My favorite part is when we went on the boat and floated around to see all the animals," an eager student at J.S. Clark Magnet School.
Now they're bringing in new animals to create more fun-filled moments.
Arriving last week, the animals came to enjoy some Louisiana warmth during the cold winter months.
Kangaroos, black neck swans, Egyptian geese and victoria crowned pigeons.... just to name a few.
The animals are already popular with students at J.S. Clark Magnet School.
"My favorite animal I saw was the kangaroo and the nice turtles. I like the kangaroos, because they like to jump alot and kick people in the face," said an excited student visiting the zoo.
"I saw a kangeroo, but the lemier I like that more it was just fun," said Gregory Smith.
With memories already in the making students say they look forward to the next round of creatures that will call the monroe zoo home.
We need to still keep more and more [animals coming to the zoo] and once we get the train that will make it better to see all of them," said another young zoo-goer.
