Monroe vehicle burglary suspect arrested

MONROE, La. - A Monroe man was arrested Sunday after burglarizing vehicles parked at Planet Fitness.

A Monroe police officer was patrolling the area of 1205 Lamy Lane, when he observed a person, later identified as Ronald Dean Dyes II, approach four separate vehicles in the parking lot peering through the windows and pulling on the door handles.

The officer approached Dyes, and with the benefit of Miranda, admitted that he was attempting to burglarize the vehicles.

Dyes said he was looking for wallets and money.

Dyes also matched the description given earlier in the shift of a w/m that had been pulling on vehicle door handles around the West Rimes Circle area.

Dyes was arrested and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on four counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, and one count of criminal trespass.
