MONROE, La. - UPDATE:
A memorial fund has been set up for the Monroe Police Officer who died in a car crash Sunday morning.
Mayor Jamie Mayo announced the fund on Monday (January 8, 2018) on behalf of the family of Officer Chris Beaudion.
Those wishing to make contributions to the Chris Beaudion Memorial Fund can do so by contacting any Iberia Bank location.
Beaudion's funeral will be held in Natchitoches on Saturday, January 13, 2018.
The Louisiana State Police Troop F is investigating the death of 26 year old Monroe Police Officer Christopher Beaudion. Beaudion died in a single-vehicle car crash early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred at the intersection of South 2nd Street and Winnsboro Road in Monroe. The preliminary investigation revealed that Officer Beaudion was traveling southbound on South 2nd Street when his car veered off the road and struck a tree.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Monroe Police Department said in a Facebook post that Officer Beaudion began serving on the force in August of 2016. He is survived by a wife and two children.
