UPDATE: Sunday night shooting suspect's identity revealed

Warrant issued for Second Degree Murder

MONROE, La. - UPDATE (2/20/17 10:00 A.M.): Monroe Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect in Sunday night's fatal shooting.

On February 19, 2017 at 8:00 PM Monroe police officers responded to a shooting that occurred at 3902 Grammont Street.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim lying unconscious with a single gunshot wound to the head; the victim would be identified as Jaquarrius Holland.

The investigation would reveal that Malcom Derricktavios Harvey got into a verbal altercation and shot Jaquarrius Holland; Harvey fled the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.

Holland was taken to St Francis medical center and was pronounced deceased.

Monroe police began a search for Harvey, but he has not been located at this time.

A warrant for the charge of second degree murder has been signed by the 4th Judicial District Court for the arrest of Malcom Harvey.

UPDATE: The victim has died as a result of the injuries sustained in the shooting.

A Monroe person was rushed to St. Francis Medical Center Sunday night after being shot.

Monroe Police say the incident happened around 10:00pm Sunday in the 3900-block of Grammont Street.

Police say the victim and suspect were arguing when one shot the other.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is currently being treated for their injuries.

Monroe Police say they are currently searching for the suspect, who they have already identified, but they do not believe he poses any threats to the public.

Police have not released the ages or identities of either the suspect nor the victim at this time.
