MONROE - A Monroe man is now behind bars for helping an inmate escape.
According to the arrest report, 26-year-old Erick Anderson helped Roamond Burks escape after he was being booked for a probation violation yesterday.
Investigators tracked Burks' phone calls from his cell and found that Anderson told Burks, "I'm here" and Burks followed with, "I'm coming."
That's when officials say Burks ran out of his booking cell towards an open door.
Anderson was later arrested and admitted to discussing an escape plan with Burks.
He claims he never picked up Burks because he became scared.
Anderson is charged with criminal conspiracy and being an accessory to Burks' escape.
