Monroe man accused of holding nephew at gunpoint over $5

MONROE, La. - A Monroe man is accused of holding his nephew at gunpoint-- all over $5.00 and a carwash.

According to an arrest report, Monroe Police officers responded to a report of property damage in the 700-block of S. 8th Street around 2:30 Saturday afternoon.

When officers arrived on scene, a man told them that his uncle, 51 year-old Evan Dennis, got mad because he was washing his car in the lot.

In the report, the man told police that Dennis said he would have to pay him $5.00 if he wanted to wash the car there.

When the man refused to pay, his uncle hit the hood of his car and dented it, and then put a loaded black revolver up to his man's neck, before leaving the scene.

Police later found Dennis along S. 10th Street in Monroe. He was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center and faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and simple criminal damage to propery.
