Monroe felon arrested for firearm during traffic stop

UNION Parish - A Monroe man who was stopped by a Union Parish sheriff’s patrol officer for a traffic violation was later booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Isaac J. Caldwell, 33, of 914 Camp St., was booked Sunday evening into the parish detention center on the charge, plus failing to register a vehicle.

An arrest affidavit states that the deputy stopped Caldwell for crossing double yellow lines on La. Hwy. 2 near Farmerville.

Union Parish Sheriff's Office had received reckless operation complaint from the area and the deputy responded.

After it was determined that the vehicle had not been registered since December 2013, the deputy called for a wrecker to pick it up.

During a routine vehicle inventory, deputies found a .22 caliber firearm in the driver’s area of the 2009 Pontiac G6.
