Louisiana ranks highly when it comes to teen driving environments

LOUISIANA (WVLA) - Summer is the most popular season in which teen drivers obtain a driver’s license and the personal-finance website WalletHub ranked teen driving environments from best to worst in the United States.  

According to Wallethub, "an average of six teens" die each day as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle.

The Wallethub results were compiled using 23 key metrics to rank the 50 states.

Wallethub said, "the data set ranges from number of teen driver fatalities to average cost of car repairs to presence of impaired-driving laws."

Wallethub provided Louisiana ranking highlights:

Teenage Driving in Louisiana (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

  • 8th – Teen DUIs per Teen Population
  • 27th – Avg. Cost of Car Repairs
  • 1st – Presence of Distracted-Driving/Texting-While-Driving Laws
  • 21st – Premium Increase After Adding Teen Driver to Parent’s Policy
  • 3rd – Provision of Teen Driver’s Graduated Licensing Program Laws
  • 25th – Vehicle Miles Traveled per Capita
  • 1st – Presence of Occupant-Protection Laws
  • 21st – Presence of Impaired-Driving Laws
