Landowners learned ways to make extra cash at a Managing Your Land for Outdoor Recreation workshop

FARMERVILLE, La - Farming is an important and essential part of the Pelican State. For people who are not farmers, they can manage their land in different ways to increase outdoor recreation and earn a couple extra dollars.

The LSU Ag Center partnered with Louisiana Delta Adventures and Mississippi State University to host a 'managing your land for outdoor recreation' workshop  to explain how people can utilize their land to the best of their abilities.

"We see that there is just a great opportunity in our area to take some of this agricultural land and turn it into entertainment operations," says Dona Anna Hatch.

Legal experts and wildlife specialists from all over the southeast hosted seminars all day to help further educate on how to start things like hunting grounds, a pumpkin patch farm, and various other types of outdoor recreation on a piece of property.

"Tradition agriculture is wonderful and we have lots of farmers who farm for years but now we are seeing some of these farm lands go down to the next generation and some of these people are going to be absentee land owners looking for new ideas," says Dona Anna Hatch

But anyone who wants to start managing their land for other purposes can easily find help.

"We can hand -- kinda carry individuals on. We can come out and look at the property. LSU does that and Mississippi State Extension Service does that and we can actually start working on that particular piece of property to give advice," says Daryl Jones.
