On June 22, 2017 at 9:00 AM Monroe police dispatch received a phone call from what appeared to be a male voice stating that there was a bomb at the Regions Bank main office in Monroe.

The main office is located at 1500 N18th St. Officers were dispatched to the main office on North 18th, but were also sent to a secondary location of a Regions branch at 601 Sterlington Road to make sure this location was secure.

The Regions branch on Sterlington Road was evaluated and it did appear to be secure.

Officers at the N18th Street main office did locate what appeared to be a suspicious item located inside of a trash can sitting right outside of the front entrance to the bank.

It was at this time that the Monroe police Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team was activated.

Police officers who were already on scene immediately began to evacuate several places of business located in and around the 1800 block of Tower Drive.
