Four middle school students arrested after fight, one hospitalized

GONZALES, La. (WVLA) - (12/14/2017) Four middle school students have been arrested and one sent to a local hospital after a fight Wednesday afternoon December 13th.

According to a Facebook post from the City of Gonzales Police Department, around 12:43 p.m. Wednesday afternoon officers were dispatched to Gonzales Middle School in relation to a fight on campus. After reviewing all information, four students were arrested, and one student was sent to an area hospital.

Three of the four arrested were charged with Second Degree Battery, and the fourth was charged with Simple Battery.

Two of the students arrested have been booked into the St. Bernard Juvenile Detention Center where they will meet with a judge within 72 hours of their arrest, who will decide if their stay in detention will be extended or if they will be released into the custody of their parents until their court date.

The two other students arrested have been released into the custody of their parents. A court date has been set for them.

As the four students arrested are juveniles, no bond or bail was set, as is standard practice.
