Former Lafayette Police captain arrested by State Police

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -  UPDATE:

Former Lafayette Police Captain Dwayne Prejean was arrested Saturday morning before dawn by Louisiana State Police on charges of OWI and other traffic charges.

KLFY has received the affidavit from Prejean's Saturday morning arrest which states that police observed his black GMC pickup truck driving left on the centerline on Camellia Blvd just before 2 a.m.

He was pulled over and exited the vehicle stumbling, according to the affidavit.

After a field test, Prejean was arrested at the scene and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

This is Prejean's second arrest in the past week.

On Tuesday, he was arrested and charged with one count of domestic abuse battery after a video surfaced showing what appeared to be Captain Prejean hitting his wife in the face with a cell phone.

His bond was set at $2,500. He bonded out the same day.
