Facebook live lands woman in jail

MONROE, La. - A case that started with a lot of he said she said gets serious and lands a 23-year-old Delia Toston in jail.

The alleged victim of harassment, Zakiya Williams, said 23-year-old Delia Toston was calling her and her family names and was spreading rumors about them.

Williams felt harassed enough to call police.

When she made the complaint to police they didn't have to take her word for it. Because she made the comments on Facebook Live.

"When you're able to see something on Facebook Live where it can go out to hundreds even thousands of people it makes it just that much easier because you know have 500 to a thousand more eye witnesses," Monroe Executive Officer, Reggie Brown, said.

Usually this type of thing wouldn't warrant an arrest accept it violated a restraining order the victim had against Toston.

"[It] orders Toston not to make any public postings about the victim," Brown said.

After investigating on Facebook, we found out both people have known each other for several years.

However, representatives from both families declined to speak on the matter.

One thing is certain, this case is a lot deeper than the police report can show.

Toston has since been released from jail. No word yet, on if any further legal action between the two parties will take place.
