WEST MONROE, LA - A fire leaves a family and a group of employees without a paycheck.
The Belle's Ole South Diner is closed and for now, workers and the owners are distraught.
The restaurant owners were actually leasing the building from Harold Traylor.
For many of their customers, the restaurant has been a staple in the community for 12 years.
Early estimates show that the restaurant has about $ 20,000 of damage.
The fire broke out around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
"When we saw the damage we just started thinking about our employees because we pour a lot into them. There is just a lot of emotions that happen to you at one time it just sends you into a shock," said Wayne Pitts.
The goal is to raise $30,000 through their Go Fund Me page. The funds would go to replace restaurant equipment and building repairs.
