El Dorado Police search for suspects in church robbery

EL DORADO,Ark.-- - People usually enter the First United Methodist Church to worship, but this week, someone went inside with something else in mind, to steal.

"Upon officers arrival, they made contact with the preacher who indicated that someone had entered the church sometime during the nighttime hours between Monday evening and Tuesday morning," Captain Holt, El Dorado Police Department said.

When police arrived, things were out of place.

Investigators say some of the offices were "ransacked" and several items were missing.

"Donation jars that appeared to be baby bottles that I know people have seen throughout the community," said Holt. "Those jars were taken with an undisclosed amount of money at this point because they are trying to figure out how much was taken.

Before the suspects left, police say there was evident left behind.

"There was surveillance video inside the church," said Holt. "Investigators are reviewing that video to determine the identity of the subjects that did enter the church."

Investigators hope the evident they found, coupled with video, will help them crack the case soon.
