Community delivers water to Clayton in times of crisis

CLAYTON, La. - A water crisis strikes in Clayton, Louisiana for the second time in only two months.

"We were struggling last week with water because I was out of water," Clayton resident, Thelma Beard, said.

A group of people in the nearby towns decided to step up and figure out how to help.

Some residents had no idea until they saw the commotion.

"I was just riding by and I said I wonder what's going on oh lord the water is going off again,"  Beard said.

However,  when they saw the cases their spirits were lifted.

"It made me feel real good that we have neighbors helping others," Beard said.

When word got out they say the support  came pouring in.

"Our MissLou area Natchez  showed up showed out our studio was full of water," Webster said.

Henry Davis Jr. Known as "Gospel Slim" in on the radio was desperate to help his community in their time of need.

"It gives me that sense of purpose that i'm giving back to a lot of those people that helped raise me," Davis said.

While Clayton and Waterproof are still under a boil advisory this may not be the last time they'll need help.

"You see the need when you see the need it just makes you want to do more," Webster said.

People who are still having water issues in the Clayton and Waterproof areas, be sure to contact people with Clayton City Hall.
