RAPIDES Parish (RPSO) - Two have been arrested for second degree cruelty to a juvenile after child is burned in several places on its body.
On February 19, detectives responded to a local hospital in reference to a victim with injuries of an unknown origin.
Upon arrival, contact was made with patrol deputies and they advised of the situation involving the infant. According to the initial report, the child was burned in several places on its body. The Department of Child and Family Services were also notified and assisted in the investigation.
During the course of the investigation, the suspects were identified as Kayla Elise McDaniel and Allen Keith Scheuermann.
Through their investigation, detectives had sufficient evidence to secure arrest warrants for both McDaniel and Scheuermann for one count of Improper Supervision of a Minor and one count 2nd Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile.
McDaniel was taken into custody without incident on February 27th , 2017 and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on the active warrants where she was released the following day on a $20,000.00 bond.
Scheuermann was located on March 10th , 2017 and taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on the active warrants and remains in jail at the time of this release as no bond has been set on his charges.
Detectives say the investigation is still ongoing and the child has been released from the hospital and is in the custody of other family members.
