Calhoun contractor arrested on home improvement fraud

UNION Parish - A Calhoun contractor has been arrested by Union Parish sheriff’s detectives for home improvement fraud.

Sheriff Dusty Gates identified him as Roger Jennings, 63, of 1405 Hwy. 144. He was released from the parish detention center in Farmerville on a bond of $3,600.

Investigators said Jennings (Triple R, LLC) and the victim entered into a contract for construction work that included a new roof. The company was supposed to replace five doors, replace some sheetrock and do some painting inside the house.

The victim, as agreed to in the contract, gave an initial payment of $7,200 on November 2016 and met other payments totaling $11,100 while seeing very little work being accomplished. The victim told detectives that no work had been done at his house since Dec. 15.

The shingles ordered to repair the roof were never paid for or picked up, detectives reported.
