Boys & Girls Club of NELA reopens after month-long renovation

Grade schoolers, tweens and teenagers have their place back!

The Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Louisiana reopening today after a month-long renovation.

These improvements include a new kitchen, gym and cafe.

The Boys & Girls Club offers children and teenagers in the community a place to play and do homework after school something organizers say is priceless.

"It's huge. We keep kids off the street, we give them a safe place to be where they're not out running the streets and they're not getting in trouble. They're here where they get homework help. Last school year we averaged about 65-percent of our kids made 3.0 or honor roll or better," said Director William Awl.

This students were surprised to see the club's changes  as the after-school program picked up again.

Organizers say they couldn't do this without the help of supporters Centurylink, Taco Bell and Lowe's.
