Bernice woman arrested for heroin in Union Parish

UNION Parish - A Bernice woman has been arrested on a warrant charging her with possession of heroin.

Hillary McKinnie, 24, was arrested Tuesday after an investigation by Union Parish sheriff’s deputies that began in Marsh.

Sheriff Dusty Gates said warrants were issued March 24 after deputies were led to a bag containing McKinnie’s clothes which also included three syringes, one filled with a dark liquid. The contents were tested and found to be positive for heroin, the sheriff said.

McKinnie also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Her total bond was set at $5,750. Conditions for bond also included that she not possess any illegal substances and submit to substance abuse treatment.

Documents show that McKinnie was released from Ouachita Parish Correctional Center earlier this year for drug possession.
