UPDATE: Attempted purse snatcher connected to string of Ouachita Parish burglaries

Monroe, La. - UPDATE:

The Monroe man arrested for trying to steal a woman's purse Wednesday faces more charges after being connected to a string of burglaries in Ouachita Parish last month.

Ouachita Parish Deputies arrested 48-year-old Ricky Patrick Sr. for trying to snatch the purse in the Lakeshore area of Desiard Street.

He was booked on one count of first degree robbery for that crime.

But now Patrick Sr. faces two more charges of attempted burglary, in connection to a string of burglaries that happened in Ouachita Parish in May.

According to an arrest report, Patrick Sr. helped his son Ricky Patrick Jr. burglarize two West Monroe businesses.

Patrick Jr. was arrested last week in connection to recent break-ins at Monroe's Magic Grill and a nearby U-Haul store.

Both father and son remain in jail this morning.

Patrick Sr.'s bond is $35,000.

Patrick Jr.'s is $160,000.

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a robbery of a business on Desiard Street in the Lakeshore area early Wednesday morning.

The investigation revealed the suspect attempted to grab a purse and money bag from the victim.

A struggle ensued and the suspect fled the area.

Further investigation identified Ricky A. Patrick, Sr., age 48, of Monroe as the suspect.

Patrick has been arrested and booked in OCC on one count of First Degree Robbery.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are pending.
