Arklamiss volunteers bringing help to Southeast Texas

CAMDEN, Ark. - Texas continues to get punished by the aftermath of Tropical Storm Harvey.

"A lot of the people here have lost their homes or basically everything in their homes some homes,"

People in the city of Port Arthur say at one point it felt like the entire city was covered in water.

"We've been through a couple of hurricanes but never experienced anything to this nature," Pastor and Harvey relief volunteer, Kalan Gardner, said.

Even some of my close friends and their close friends brought out their boats to rescue people trying to escape the floods.

A crisis that has left the city of Beaumont without the use of clean water.

"We don't have a lot of food here we're trying to get food trucks in but we can't get food trucks in because the major highways linked into the city are still flooded," Gardner said.

Now everyone's focus is relief and recovery.

Meanwhile people in Camden, Arkansas are sending the cavalry.

Southern Pipe and Supply, a local business, is stepping up to help the people of Beaumont and other Texans in need.

"It was a mother carrying a child and i have two children of my own and it really tugged at my heart," employee, Justin Clark, said.

"We posted on our Facebook page for people to like and share and to bring what they could and man has it ever I mean it just took off," store manager, Jeremiah Allhands, said.

They saw people on TV in trouble and took it as a challenge to help.

"When tragedy strikes like this man that's when our family comes together big time and we consider everybody in America part of our family," Clark said.

"Keep sending it you keep sending it we'll keep taking it we're not gonna stop until the supplies stop coming in," Allhands said.

A small community trying to make a big difference.

"That speaks volumes in the world that we're living in today when tragedy hits that we can come together and we can pull resources together and take care of family."

A sign of hope for Texas residents.

"Just hang on because we're coming and help is on the way I promise," Clark said.

Southern Pipe and Supply plans on heading to Southeast Texas with their first truckload of supplies Friday night or Saturday morning September 2, 1017.
