Arkansas Entergy customers could soon see increase in monthly bill

ARKANSAS - 2017 November 14

Tyrone Edwards say each month he expects his Entergy bill to be at least $100.

"I'd say about $120, $130 bucks a month."

He says being on a fixed income and disability makes him more aware of his pockets.

And after hearing there could be a possible increase in his Entergy bill, he says he will watch them even closer.

"Probably have to cut back on energy use, make sure I keep the lights out and that type stuff."

The company is in the process of getting approval from the Arkansas Public Service Commission to raise rates for next year.

Entergy says they have factored in the the typical customers uses 1,000 kilowatts per month--which will result in a $3.93 per month increase.

Entergy says the increase includes projecting cost for the year ahead.

"We are investing in generation and transmission, distribution facilities to provide safe, reliable service to our customers at a reasonable cost," said Kerri Case, Spokesperson for Entergy.

And they say that includes tree trimmings, weather and other factors.

"Much of what we are spending in 2018 is to replace infrastructure that has aged to comply with different regulations and improve our overall grid reliability," said Case.

And even though the increase will go towards improvements, customers like Edwards are hoping they will keep in mind the hardships it will put on their wallet.
