Baton Rouge -- This year's Miss USA pageant is being held in Baton Rouge and you can see it this Sunday on NBC.
The contestants have had plenty of time to visit and get acquainted with the southern Louisiana capital city before this Sunday's event. And they have been enjoying their time leading up to their big day on June 8th.
Miss Colorado, Eleanna Livaditis, says, "I have never been to a place like this, the culture here is completely different than it is in Colorado and the food is the best food I have ever had."
Even the hometown girl, Miss Louisiana, Brittany Guidry, has gotten to see a side of her home state that she hasn't seen before. "Through all of our events that we did, I actually went to some that I haven't been to before like Homeless House and Nottaway Plantation," Guidry says. "So not only did I get to teach the girls a little bit about Louisiana, I got to learn a little bit about Louisiana with them."
Even though this is a competition, the whole experience has bonded them all together forever.
Yvette Bennett, Miss Idaho says, "I've been enjoying my experience, I'm having fun, I'm making new friendships. Possibly new bridesmaids! So who knows. It's just been amazing and I feel so blessed to be here."
Now they are having the time of their lives, but let's be real, every city has its flaws.
The humidity here can be a bit much, but a little southern hospitality more than makes up for it.
Haley O'Brien, Miss Minnesota, says, "People say Minnesota nice? No, Baton Rouge nice! They need to change that. Everyone is super, super sweet around here."
You can catch the Miss USA event live Sunday June 8th on KTVE 10 at 7pm.
