Monroe -- The Vieux Carre restaurant in Monroe is now up for auction.
Vieux Carre Gourmet, located in Monroe on N 18th Street, closed its doors after two of its employees spent an estimated $146,000 of the company's money on personal expenses such as clothing and jewelry.
The business owners discovered multiple unauthorized transactions made by Justin Ewing and his wife Mary Ewing between January 2013 and February 2014.
Ewing and his wife were charged with theft and arrested on April 11th.
Vieux Carre Gourmet plans to auction its entire wine inventory, restaurant equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
The on-site auction is scheduled for May 14th at 10:00 am.
