Chicago -- Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo says the meeting with United Airlines today over proposed direct flights from Monroe to Denver was a good one.

Mayo along with representatives from CenturyLink and the Denver International Airport took part in today's meeting in Chicago.

Mayo tells KTVE/KARD that a joint incentive package was offered to United Airlines if they were to begin those direct flights. No specific information on the incentive package was given.

No commitment from United Airlines was made, but more information will be provided to the carrier at a later date.

Currently no airline offers a direct flight to Denver out of Monroe Regional Airport.

Passengers must make a stop in Dallas or Atlanta to get a flight to Denver.
