Ouachita Parish Assistant District Attorney Neal Johnson tells KTVE/KARD that Barbara Hart's attorney sent the letter after Hart went through counseling and at this point does not feel like she was kidnapped and rape.
Hart was accused of kidnapping and raping his wife over a period of days extending from Dec. 26-30.
Hart held police at bay for more than seven hours on December 30.
Hart was indicted in April by a Ouachita Parish grand jury on eight charges.
Hart has been out on bail since April and is only allowed to live at home or with family -- with electronic monitoring.
Johnson says recanting in cases of domestic abuse are extremely common.
Hart is due back in court on July 31, where a trial date could be set.
