Police originally believed Collins' injuries to be non life-threatening.
Police said the victim, store owner Harry Collins, in surgery now. There are no further details at this time on suspect description.
MONROE - Police say at least one man was shot during an armed robbery on Thursday afternoon.
It happened at Harry's Coins on the 600 block of Hudson Lane.
Police say three black males left the scene, after the owner of the store, Harry Collins, was shot. Police originally believed the victim didn't have life-threatening injuries, but he later died from his wounds.
Police had set up a perimeter around the store, but the streets are now back open to traffic.
Police said they believe the suspects specifically targeted the store, not the area, for the robbery.
A neighbor next door says Collins lives in one part of the home, and operates his business on the other side. The neighbor said Collins had seemed cautious for weeks, allegedly telling neighbors that he was robbed just two to three weeks ago.
The investigation continues.
