Ouachita County -- A south Arkansas judge is asking for a continuance for his upcoming federal trial.

James Hesterly is scheduled to go on trial in early April on bribery and fraud charges.

In his request, Hesterly says a recent neck surgery has left him unable to participate in the trial.

Prosecutors say since Hesterly still holds the position of Ouachita County Judge, 'it is in the interest of justice that the trial of this matter proceed as scheduled'.

The trial has been continued three previous times.
