Road Rage Incident Results in Aggravated Assault Arrest

OUACHITA PARISH (State Police) -- On Monday, troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F arrested a man for aggravated assault following a road rage incident.

Around 8:45 a.m., Troop F received a phone call from a motorist traveling east on Interstate 20 near the Cheniere Drew exit.

The motorist called to tell Troopers that she was involved in a road rage incident and the other motorist pointed a gun at her. She gave Troopers a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle and location. Troopers were able to locate the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop on the suspect, 56-year-old James Robinson of Ruston.

During questioning Robinson told Troopers that he was involved in a road rage incident with the caller. Robinson admitted to showing her the gun but said he did not point it at her. Robinson was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center.

If convicted Robinson faces up to a $1,000 fine and six months in prison.

Troopers would like to remind the public to drive safely and exercise extra patience on the roads, especially during the summer months, do not let the actions of others cause you to make foolish decisions.

Motorists that witness hazardous or dangerous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police
