Police Capture Man Who Held Ex-Girlfriend Hostage in Storage Closet

Monroe Police say Benjamin Smith has been captured on Friday night at the 700 block of Bulk Ridge Drive.

He is being booked into Ouachita Correctional Center.


MONROE-- Police are investigating a kidnapping that happened in Monroe this week.

Around 11 p.m., Monroe Police were notified of a kidnapping the occurred in the 3800 block of Halsell Street.  

Police say on Thursday, the victim was on Halsell Street when she was abducted by her ex-boyfreind, Benjamin Smith.  

Police say the victim alleged that Smith forced her into his vehicle and punched her several times about her face.  

Smith then took the victim to a location and held her against her will inside a storage closet for several hours, according to police.
The victim was able to escape and notify Monroe Police of the incident.  

An arrest warrant for Benjamin Smith for 2nd degree kidnapping and false imprisonment has been obtained with bond set at $115,000.
